About the Role

Being a backend engineer at Summer means taking charge of the glue that binds our frontend, data, and design teams together. We're language agnostic and Rust-curious, but currently heads down with Go and Python. We're working on some interesting problems at the cutting edge (hint!) of data and are having a ton of fun piecing everything together.

Some things that have been getting us excited recently are learning about building robust and scalable systems using workflow execution engines (like Temporal), going down the very deep WASM rabbit hole, and thinking about what could be "better" than an API (we think we've got something!). A perfect candidate for this position is interested in learning, wants to work in a startup environment building from scratch, and has executed services at scale before.

If you've never heard of Temporal or don't know what WASM is, no problem. So long as you've got a firm understanding of the basics (Golang or Python, AWS/GCP, Relational/NoSQL), a positive attitude, and a desire to grow, we'd love to chat!
